Settling in to our new routine September 2021
Dear Parents and Carers
I hope this letter finds you safe and well. It is great to be back at school and to be with students and colleagues again. It is hard to believe that we are almost at the end of September. We are very pleased that our school routines are beginning to resemble the structure and focus that was in place before the arrival of Covid 19. We really hope that this year we can see a return of the activities, clubs, visits, and sporting fixtures that enrich school life.
LFT Tests
Like many schools in Carmarthenshire and across Wales, we are continuing to see a small number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 at Bro Dinefwr.
We encourage all pupils and staff to take LFT tests twice a week. This helps to quickly identify those who are unknowingly carrying the virus and can help to slow the spread and help protect the most vulnerable. If an LFT test is positive, please let us know and book a PCR test. Do not attend school unless the PCR test is negative.
Please remember:
If your child is showing any of the ‘classic’ symptoms of Covid-19 (a high temperature, a new continuous cough or loss or change in taste/smell) he or she should not attend school. Please book a PCR test by calling 119 or go to https://gov.wales/apply-coronavirus-test
If the test is positive, please let the school know or outside of hours, please call Delta Wellbeing on 0300 333 2222 or by emailing TTP@deltawellbeing.org.uk who will notify the school on your behalf. Your child should self-isolate and not attend school until the date given by the TTP service.
Face Coverings
Please can I ask you to support us by ensuring that your child brings a clean face covering to school each day (unless they are exempt) and that they wear it in all internal communal areas.
Uniform and equipment
We are really proud of the vast majority of our pupils who are coming to school smartly dressed and fully equipped for learning. We appreciate your support in ensuring that uniform is appropriate for school.
Leaving the school site
If your child needs to leave school early for an appointment, they must have a note signed by a parent/carer. They must take this with then to Reception and sign-out with a member of the front office staff before leaving. Please note, pupils in years 7-11 will not be able to leave school during the day unless a parent/carer collects them from Reception. If your child arrives after the start of school, they must sign in at Reception.
SIMS Parent App
If you have not already done so, please sign up for the SIMS Parent App. If you have any issues with the App, please contact our Data Manager mark.durbridge@brodinefwr.org.uk
Carmarthenshire school’s Global Goalkeepers scoop national peace award!
We are delighted that pupils from Bro Dinefwr were among children and young people from 18 Carmarthenshire schools were recognised for their positive contributions to peace and global citizenship. As a result of their hard work, they won the overall winner’s prize at the Young Peacemakers award ceremony which is organised by the Welsh Centre for International Affairs (WCIA) and the Llangollen International Eisteddfod. The young people (aged 10-15) celebrated during the ceremony are Global Goalkeepers in the Walk the Global Walk project, an EU funded initiative which encourages young people to raise awareness of sustainable development goals.
WRU Hub Officer
We are delighted to welcome Mr Lee Rees as our new WRU Hub Officer. Mr Rees will manage and deliver the school-based Rugby Development Programme across all Key Stages and in our feeder primary schools. He will also work within the community, developing curricular and extra-curricular activities.
