Core Values

As a school we have worked together to identify agreed values that reflect our aim and expectation for the school community.  These values encourage a positive attitude towards constant learning, to foster a desire to meet the best possible standards and to be an active citizen.

We are a bilingual school that encourages our school community to show respect for both languages and work to develop Welsh and English throughout.

What are the expectations for the school community?

These values are designed to be easy for all stakeholders to understand and use daily.  Our expectation is that our whole community implements these in all aspects of school life and beyond.  These values encompass all our procedures and activities, and we will use them consistently in our communication.

Our three values are:

Be Respectful

Be Ambitious

Be Kind

Respect

This value encourages our pupils to follow school rules on a daily basis, including arriving at school in the right school uniform, following school rules, being on time, listening to instructions given, and treating others as they would like to be treated.  Respect means we take responsibility for our decisions and persevere in our work.

Ambition

This value encourages our pupils to aim for the best in all aspects of their work in class and beyond.  We want to encourage our pupils to prepare for life after they leave school.  Resilience is a central part of this value and it is important to us that we promote the fact that success means persevering and practising consistently to reach their ambition.  This often means failing so don't give up!

Kindness

We live in a world that more often than not promotes negativity and criticises others.  We want to show our pupils that kindness is a strength that sets us on a solid foundation to succeed in our life.  Showing kindness inspires others to be kind and strengthens community.

School Vision

Our aim is to create an environment of achievement and inclusion for all members of our community allowing them to ‘esgyn ar adain dysg’ (ascend on the wings of learning).

This will be made possible for our learners by setting high standards to:

  • develop bilingual learners who understand the importance of Welshness in the modern Wales and beyond

  • promote active citizenship that recognises and respects our cultures and traditions

  • emphasise the importance of friendship in promoting good mental health

  • be knowledgeable of the environment around us, and to live sustainable lives

  • celebrate the achievements and attainment of our learners to encourage academic progression and higher aspirations

  • engage in constant reflection and be proactive to improve individual performance
