Mathematics

General course information

Pure Mathematics at As and A level will be extending your knowledge of such topics as algebra and trigonometry as well as learning some brand new ideas such as calculus. If you enjoy the challenge of problem solving at GCSE using such mathematical techniques, then you should find the prospect of this course very appealing. In Statistics, you will investigate the mathematics of probability as well as interpreting and presenting data. In Mechanics, you will consider the way objects move and the forces between that govern their motion.

 Career Prospects

A level Mathematics is a versatile qualification, well-respected by employers, and there is still a huge demand from science, engineering and manufacturing employers. Other careers also include work in the following fields: medical, games design, internet security, programming, economics, actuarial, statistical, teaching, accountancy, environmental and finance.

Ideal Entry requirements

Although each application will be considered on an individual basis it would be preferable to have GCSE Higher Mathematics Grade A/A*.
