General course information

Chemistry is the study of the properties and reactions of substances. As a Science subject practical work is an important element. The specification builds on the knowledge, understanding and skills of GCSE and provides a thorough understanding of fundamental concepts , along with a broad and balanced coverage of a range of chemical topics. There is an opportunity to develop several skills, which are transferable to many career options.

 Career Prospects

A qualification in Chemistry gives access to Further or Higher Education, studying Chemistry or one of the other sciences or related subjects, such as Medicine, Pharmacy, Veterinary Science or Chemical Engineering, or work in Science-based industry, the medical field, the environment or agriculture.

Ideal Entry requirements

Although all candidates are considered individually they should have achieved a minimum Grade B in GCSE Double Science or GCSE Chemistry.
