Biology

General course information

The Biology course aims to encourage learners to develop essential knowledge and understanding of different areas of biology and how they relate to each other.  Students will be encouraged demonstrate a deep appreciation of the skills, knowledge and understanding of scientific methods used within biology and develop competence and confidence in a variety of practical, mathematical and problem solving skills.  They will develop their interest in and enthusiasm for biology, including developing an interest in further study and careers associated with the subject .  We will explore how society makes decisions about biological issues and how biology contributes to the success of the economy and society.

Ideal Entry requirements

Although each application will be considered individually it would be beneficial for students to have a grade B in Core subjects including Science as a minimum.

There are an exceptionally wide field of prospects linked to Biology.  Career opportunities could include:

Medicine, Clinical Jobs, Veterinary Medicine, Physiotherapy, Botanist, Research scientist, Teacher, to name but  few
