Information and Communication Technology

course information

A course in Information and Communication Technology encourages the investigation and study in a variety of contexts. In these contexts, the pupils are given opportunities to acquire competence, capability and critical skills through the creation, implementation, use and evaluation of a range of information and communication systems.

This specification in ICT enables learners to:

  • become independent and discerning users of ICT

  • acquire and apply creative and technical skills, knowledge and understanding of ICT in a range of contexts

  • develop ICT-based solutions to solve problems

  • develop their understanding of current and emerging technologies

  • develop their understanding of the legal, social, economic, ethical and environmental issues

  • recognise potential risks when using ICT, and develop safe, secure and responsible practice

  • develop the skills to work collaboratively

  • Interrogate supplied data imported into a spreadsheet

  • Use data create a website and a game/animation related to a scenario

Unit 3

Communicating in the Digital World (Coursework – 20%)

  • Marketing digital assets using social media

  • Creating digital assets related to a context

  • Formulate an online digital communications campaign
