course information
The GCSE course is split into four units. The units will be assessed with two examinations and two course work. The students will complete one examination at the end of year 10, this counts for 30% of their final grade. They will complete the course work (40%) over the two years, before completing the last exam (30%) at the end of year 11.
The course is split up into four units:
Unit 1
Examination - Wales and the early Tudors, c.1485–c.1547
Unit 3
Changes in US society c.1880–c.1980
Unit 2
Course work - The Black Death c.1330–c.1360: a case study in medieval society
Unit 4
Course work – Learners will study themed events within a continuous period of c.75–c.100 years of history. The events studied will be from the islands of Great Britain and/or Ireland.

Analysing sources, Understand the different needs of an ‘explain’ and ‘describe’ question, Answer extended answers, especially essays, Analysing interpretations.
