Drama

course information

The new WJEC GCSE course is exciting, creative and challenging, and there’s an excellent balance between controlled assessments and the written evaluation.

The course is taught in such a way that the skills are not learned in isolation but are integrated. This is so that pupils learn how to apply knowledge and understanding across a range of dramatic activities. We offer the following practical activities: devised thematic work, acting, lighting, sound, make-up and costume. There is one written examination, 90 minutes, divided into two sections: a theatre review, and the study and performance of a scripted play.

Pupils must attend lunchtime rehearsals in the week leading up to the two performance assessments.
