natur

Welcome to Natur

At Ysgol Bro Dinefwr, we have developed Natur, our outdoor learning centre - an area of land adjacent to the school that focuses on sustainability, innovation, creativity and engagement in the natural world.

The Well-being of Future Generations Act and the Curriculumfor Wales inspired the school to create Natur four years ago. Every year since then great progress has been made by several members of staff and stakeholders to develop the site.

We firmly believe that education is where progress towardsnet zero must start. Acting today for a better tomorrow.

Our outdoor learning centre actively encourages our learners to make healthy, informed, lifelong decisions and be proactive global citizens.

Testimonials

Here are some words our pupils have used to describe Natur:

“Thank-you so much for welcoming me to the school on the day that the Future Generations Commissioner for Wales launched his new seven year strategy Cymru Can on November 14th 2023. It was great to be able to visit one of the schools that are part of our Future Generations Changemaker 100 list.

I was delighted to meet yourself, teaching staff and pupils for a workshop and activities around the Well-being of Future Generations Act and Cymru Can.  I saw the significant benefits that the new school building brings to the school community in terms of all round pupil well-being and the focus on net zero and being a globally responsible nation.

I was particularly impressed with the outdoor learning areas and to experience the clever and creative ways that you are using this to support both the curriculum (science, cookery, geography etc.) and those with Additional Learning Needs / who are emotionally vulnerable.  You are making incredible use of this space and I hope that you're able to continue to invest in this way - 'acting today for  a better tomorrow'.

To see first hand the positive impact on children's well-being and educational outcomes as I walked around and met people was something that has stayed with me.  I only wish that more of the schools in Wales could have the approach and facilities that Ysgol Bro Dinefwr has.

I found the children that took part in the workshop and activities (who were a wide range of ages in the same session) to be courteous, respectful of me and each other, interested in the issues being discussed, and fun to engage.  I thank you and them for your time.

If we can do anything to help you, please let us know.”
