Update on exam assessment to Year 11 and 13.
As I am sure you are aware following the decision to close schools across the UK from 23rd March, summer examinations will not take place this year. The latest update from the Welsh Joint Education Committee (WJEC) states that there will be no moderation of non-examination assessments taking place. In some subjects these assessments have not yet finished and in some instances they have not commenced.
We are aware that many pupils have been working online with their teachers in order to complete coursework and non-examination assessments. Where this is possible, we continue to encourage individuals to finish any work that can be completed, and to hand it in through ‘Teams’.
It must be emphasised that this is not compulsory, and we are merely encouraging pupils to do as much as possible. Failure to complete this work will not disadvantage pupils in any way. In many situations, the process of completing the work develops skills such as research, and independence.
As a school we are collating information for every pupil so that we can respond quickly to any requests that comes from the examination boards. We will be in contact with you as soon as we have updates from the examination boards, and we thank you for your patience in this matter.
