The role of a learner
Prior to the lesson
In order to engage constructively with my online studies, I agree to:
- Prepare for the session in plenty of time and have an appropriate working area.
- Access the relevant files for each session in advance and have the materials to hand.
- Ensure my device and connection are suitable for online learning and inform the school, where it is not, in advance.
- Choose an appropriate quiet workspace (ideally a separate room) where other family members will not disturb me and explain to my family when I am starting a live session.
- Minimise distractions. Turn off music, tv, phone, games console in the background.
- Mute my microphone.
- Ensure that I use a background if my camera is going to be switched on during the lesson.
- Ensure I am dressed appropriately and treat the session as I would in school.
During the lesson
In order to engage constructively with my online studies, I agree to:
- Not impact on the experience of the lesson for other pupils, showing respect for everyone in the online classroom.
- Contribute to the class in a positive manner and not be disruptive at any time.
- Only use my parents to support with the technology and not ask questions or speak for me during the session.
- Mute my microphone unless I need to ask a question or respond to the teacher
- Only comment or raise questions on the topic being discussed.
Between lessons
In order to engage constructively with my online studies, I agree to:
- Communicate effectively any difficulties I encounter with my classroom teacher via email or on Teams.
- Accept that teachers might not be able to answer immediately or out of normal school hours to any queries I may have.
