1sts
It’s been an eventful month for the senior rugby team. Having lost to Coleg Sir Gar they have bounced back with two resounding wins against Maes y Gwendraeth and Llandovery College. The team defeated Maes y Gwendraeth by 48 points to 12 with 8 scintillating tries and Sean Vale scoring his first ever try for the school. Richard Hardy from the WRU described the style of rugby played in this match as the best he has witnessed this season. The team retained the Carreg Law trophy for the fifth consecutive year against Llandovery College with a 47 points to 7 victory. Tries in this match were scored by Owen Phillips, Ben Evans and Jack Beech, with Callan Davies and captain Gruff Thomas scoring a brace of tries each. Well done to Owen Phillips for kicking 6 of the 7 conversions in a personal haul of 17 points. Last Wednesday the team had an unfortunate start against Amman Valley, going down by 21 points to 0 within 20 minutes. However in true Bro Dinefwr spirit they fought back to lead by 33 points to 28 with less than a minute to go. Dramatically Amman Valley scored in the last play of the game and kicked the conversion to win by 35 points to 33. A harsh rugby lesson but they can be proud of their resilience and leadership in adverse situations.

Year 10
The year 10 scored 4 excellent tries against Maes y Gwendraeth but lost out by 26 points to 40.

Year 9
The year 9 team have beaten Maes y Gwendraeth by 38 points 19, and Amman Valley by 45 points to 27 in their opening two matches and will need to defeat Llandovery College to get into the Welsh Cup this season.

Year 8
The year 8 team have lost to Amman Valley, drawn 17 all against Maes y Gwendraeth and hope to win their first match of the season against Bryngwyn this week.

Year 7
Well done to both year 7 teams for representing the school for the first time against Amman Valley and Maes y Gwendraeth. The 7A team have won both games, defeating Amman Valley by 26 points to 12 and Maes y Gwendraeth by 17 points to 14.  The 7B team have lost both games, however the most pleasing aspect of their games is the respect they have shown the referees, opposition, new team mates and friends.

Tîm Cyntaf

Bu’n fis cofiadwy i’r tîm hŷn rygbi. Wedi colli i Goleg Sir Gâr maent wedi taro nôl gan ennill dwy gêm yn erbyn Maes y Gwendraeth a Choleg Llanymddyfri. Trechwyd Maes y Gwendraeth gan y tîm o 48 pwynt i 12 gydag 8 cais wefreiddiol a sgoriodd Sean Vale gais gyntaf dros yr ysgol. Disgrifiodd Richard Hardy o URC y dull rygbi a chwaraewyd yn y gêm hon fel y gorau a welodd y tymor hwn. Daliodd y tîm eu gafael ar gwpan Carreg Law am y bumed flwyddyn yn olynol yn erbyn Coleg Llanymddyfri gyda buddugoliaeth o 47 pwynt i 7. Sgoriwyd y ceisiadau yn y gêm hon gan Owen Phillips, Ben Evans a Jack Beech, gyda Callan Davies a’r capten Gruff Thomas yn sgorio dwy gais yr un. Da iawn i Owen Phillips am gicio 6 o’r 7 trosiad mewn sgôr personol o 17 pwynt. Dydd Mercher diwethaf cafodd y tîm dechreuad anffodus yn erbyn Dyffryn Aman, gan golli o 21 i 0 mewn 20 munud. Ond, gyda gwir ysbryd Bro Dinefwr ymladdon nhw nôl i arwain o 33 pwynt i 28 gyda llai na munud i fynd. Yn ddramatig, sgoriodd Dyffryn Aman yn chwarae ola’r gêm a chicion nhw’r trosiad i ennill o 35 pwynt i 33. Gwers rygbi galed ond gallan nhw ymfalchïo yn eu gwytnwch ac arweinyddiaeth dan amodau anffafriol.

Blwyddyn 10
Sgoriodd Blwyddyn 10 4 cais ardderchog yn erbyn Maes y Gwendraeth ond collon nhw o 26 pwynt i 40.

Blwyddyn 9
Mae tîm Blwyddyn 9 wedi trechu Maes y Gwendraeth o 38 pwynt i19, a Dyffryn Aman o 45 pwynt i 27 yn eu dwy gêm agoriadol ond bydd rhaid iddynt drechu Coleg Llanymddyfri i gyrraedd Cwpan Cymru’r tymor hwn.

Blwyddyn 8
Mae tîm Blwyddyn 8 wedi colli i Ddyffryn Aman, yn gyfartal 17 yr un yn erbyn Maes y Gwendraeth ac maent yn gobeithio ennill eu gêm gyntaf y tymor hwn yn erbyn Bryngwyn yr wythnos hon.

Blwyddyn 7
Da iawn i ddau dîm Blwyddyn 7 am gynrychioli’r ysgol am y tro cyntaf yn erbyn Dyffryn Aman a Maes y Gwendraeth. Mae tîm 7A wedi ennill y ddwy gêm, gan drechu Dyffryn Aman o 26 pwynt i 12 a Maes y Gwendraeth o 17 pwynt i 14.  Mae tîm 7B wedi colli’r ddwy gêm, ond agwedd mwyaf pleserus eu gemau yw’r parch y dangoson nhw at ddyfarnwyr, y gwrthwynebiad, cyd-chwaraewyr a ffrindiau newydd.
