The Times University Rankings provides an overview of how well-respected universities are as academic institutions. As well as an overall judgement, you should also look at the scores and ratings for individual subjects within universities, as these can differ significantly.
The Teaching Excellence Framework is a new judgement based on student satisfaction with the quality of teaching in UK universities. Many highly rated universities have recently focused on research at the expense of teaching, so have low satisfaction ratings from students.
